Ratu Boko or Keraton Ratu Boko is a historical site derived from the Hindu and Buddhist dynasties that can now be seen in the form of ruins and temple-like buildings. The site is situated on top of a hill that was once a palace. The site is located in the village of Dawung and Sambireja Village, close to Prambanan temple which is very easy to reach about 3 kilometers. The location of Ratu Boko is also adjacent to other Hindu temples like Kalasan Temple, Sewu Temple, Plaosan Temple, Sambisari Temple and others.

How to get to Ratu Boko Palace

From Tugu Station, you can reach it by public transportation. Ratu Boko is about 18 kilometers from Tugu Jogja Station. From Tugu Jogja you can directly walk to Trans Jogja Malioboro 1 stop, then take public transportation route 1A towards Prambanan. From the bus stop you can ride motorcycle taxi to get there and may cost around Rp 20.000.

How to get to Ratu Boko from Lempuyangan Station

From Lempuyangan Station you can simply take the Trans Jogja bus from Fly over Lempuyangan stop, take route 4A to Prambanan Stop destination. Next you can reach Ratu Boko by motorcycle taxi.

How to get to Ratu Boko Palace From Adisucipto Airport

From Adisucipto airport, you can also ride Trans Jogja, way to Maguwo bus stop, choose Trans Jogja bus with route to east towards Prambanan. Until prambanan, you can directly ride motorcycles.

If you ride a private vehicle or taxi, you can use Prambanan temple as a compass. Viewed from the main highway Ratu Boko site is located opposite Prambanan Temple and you must travel about 3 kilometers through Piyungan road.

You have to decide fast, because economy class tickets are usually sold out not long since the sale opened. You can book train tickets at the official train ticket agent, at the station reservation counter, or through the official site and the official train ticket booking application.

4. Keep yourself near the station

Your train will arrive in Yogyakarta in early hours in the morning. You will need temporary lodging to rest. This temporary accommodation costs relatively cheaply and is easy to reach around the station.

In Yogyakarta there is a temporary rest area in Sosrowijayan near Malioboro. You can find cheap hotels and lodgings here. You can reach this area from Stasiun Tugu Yogyakarta by foot or by becak. If you depart from Stasiun Lempuyangan, you can reach this place by ojek or taxi.

5. Bring the necessary stuffs

There are thing to note if we are going to travel by train. The regulations restrict our luggage to 20 kilograms only. If it exceeds that provision we will be fined for the excess baggage. Therefore we should bring stuffs that are really needed.

Another important thing to note is your documents. And we also must bring ID Card to be used for ordering the tickets.

6. Come to the station early

Currently most of the railway stations on the island of Java are already using the boarding pass system. Therefore we must print the boarding pass at the departure station earlier. Boarding pass can be printed between 12 hours to 10 minutes before the train departure schedule.

Jakarta. Indonesia recently featured the Ethno Spa Indonesia 2017 in Yogyakarta on Aug. 12-13 to showcase its world-class spa facilities that can be found across the archipelago.

"Indonesia’s spa tourism cannot be taken lightly. Just look at the world recognition in 2009 and 2012. At the time, the International Wellness Awards awarded The Best Spa Destination in The World to Indonesia," said Esthy Reko Astuti, the Ministry of Tourism’s deputy for tourism development, on Sunday (13/08).

"This festival is an activity with a goal to develop, preserve and introduce Indonesian spas with traditional herbs to tourists and foreign communities," Esthy added.

The festival comprises an exhibition, promotional sales and a best booth competition, with spa owners coming from across the world to attend.

Some local participants include Martha Tilaar, Jogya Tradisional Treatment, Taman Sari Royal Heritage Spa, Putri Kedaton, Nurkadhatyan Spa, Griya Bugar, DS Salon, Gallery Prawirotaman and Djemari.

"In Indonesia, there are lots of spas using a mixture of traditional herbs, providing the 'ethnical' touch, known as the ‘ethno spa.' This has become an attraction for foreign tourists visiting Indonesia,” Esthy said.

Meanwhile, the ministry’s tourism promotion head, Wawan Gunawan, said the traditional treatments inherited by older generations are crucial for the traditional spa industry in the country.

In Yogyakarta, these traditional spa outlets have become one of the leading tourism attractions.

"One of these tourist attractions is the Taman Sari bathing spot, [originally] built in 1789 by a Portuguese architect, as requested by Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono I. The bathing spot was intended for the Sultan and his relatives," Wawan said.

Tourism Minister Arief Yahya agreed with his deputies, saying ethno spas are new and sensational.

"Indonesia is the heaven of spas. Some of them are located by the rice paddies, beachfronts, riversides, on the mountains, or accompanied by the flowing water in the river. Everything is available in Indonesia," Arief said.

Jomblang Cave located in Jetis Wetan village in Semanu, Gunung Kidul regency, is a deep vertical cave that is famous for the view of the sunlight coming through the hole that looks like heaven-sent.

Situated 10 kilometers from the city of Wonosari and 40 kilometers from Yogyakarta, the destination provides only a kilometer of smooth asphalt road to the parking location; the rest of the trip is nothing but rocky grounds.

The cave that has a diameter area of 50 meters was first discovered in 1984 by Acintyacunyata Speleological Club (ASC), a group of cave explorers from Yogyakarta.

Many tourists have visited this tourist attraction, including those hailed from Europe, United States, China, Singapore and Malaysia.

Entering the cave requires a bit of an effort, as you will need to wear safety helmet and a rope. Using single rope technique (SRT), visitors take turns to go down to the cave; only a maximum of two people are allowed in a single batch.

“The going up and down the cave are very challenging, amazing,” said Jack from Singapore who came with his six friends.

Inside the cave, there are photographers who are ready to take your adventure photos. The photos will be printed and sold at the registration hut where lunch is also provided.

Inside the cave, visitors will see plenty of growing plants; even its limestone walls are covered with shrubs.

Done exploring the cave, you can continue the journey by walking through a 500-meter alley that will lead you to another vertical cave called Grubug Cave.

Arriving at Grubug Cave, your eyes will meet the view of two huge green-brownish stalagmites. If you can reach the cave by 1 p.m. you will get to see a stunning view of the sun shines through the darkness of Grubug Cave. (kes)
